Two quick-strike goals at the beginning and end of the first half gave Liverpool all three points at Southampton.

A brilliant Jurgen Klopp tactical plan saw Southampton control possession, but Liverpool get the goals on Sunday evening.  The Saints did not play poorly by any means, but looked susceptible against the counter attack, in which Roberto and Firmino and Mo Salah would capitalize on.

Wesley Hoedt missed an early clearance that led way to the opening goal by the Brazilian Firmino.  A nervy first five minutes was to blame for Southampton.  However, they were able to calm things down and create real chances to score.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and James Ward-Prowse were both denied from close range with real chances to equalize.

However, just before half time, it was a brilliant quick combination between Firmino and Salah that would break any momentum the Saints were gaining.

The second half did not see much opportunity on either side of the pitch.  Although, Liverpool always looked more dangerous in attack.  Especially after a couple late substitutions from Southampton, which opened the game up entirely.

The 0-2 loss sees Southampton return to the relegation zone after watching many of their competitors get key results.
