Southampton won their second pre-season friendly this afternoon as they beat Chinese side Jiangsu Suning 3-2.

Humid conditions and testing opposition saw Mark Hughes’ Southampton side work hard for the victory in which a number of players received more minutes than their last game against Schalke.

Manolo Gabbiadini opened the scoring when he nodded in a Stuart Armstrong cross, but smart finished from Jiangsu duo Zhang Lingfeng and Richmond Boakye saw their side pull ahead.

It was 2-2 at the break however as Nathan Redmond scored his second goal in two games to draw Saints level.

It was then left for second-half substitute Sam Gallagher to coolly finish in the game’s latter stages and give Saints the victory.
