Southampton capitulate late to draw against Brighton. A wonder-strike from Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and a penalty from Danny Ings should have been enough to take all three points, but old defensive ghosts came back to haunt the Saints.

After Ings tucked away at crucial penalty, it was just two minutes before Brighton headed home from a free kick.

Southampton had the best of the opening exchanges and created some nice chances. Unfortunately, the second half told a different story as a previously cowed Brighton began to impose themselves on proceedings.

After conceding a sloppy free-kick, the team failed to manage a good ball in, leaving an unfavourable two on one matchup, and Shane Duffy headed home. To compound the misery, substitute James Ward-Prowse then pushed his man in the back to concede an injury time penalty.

Despite, managing to snatch a drawer from the jaws of victory there were some good performances. There were also some very forgettable ones, but we’ll try and stay positive as we look at the ratings for Southampton against Brighton.
