Southampton were beaten 3-0 by an in-form Liverpool on Saturday afternoon and the game was virtually over at half-time.

All three of the home side’s goals came in the first period and left Mark Hughes’ Southampton side with little to fight for the second 45.

A Wesley Hoedt own-goal made it 1-0 before further strikes from Joel Matip and Mohamed Salah completed the scoring.

After setting up to keep the home side’s attack at bay, the Saints would only have one shot on target during the match.
