Southampton earned a much needed point against Wolves at Molineux.

Not for the first time this season, VAR came to Saints’ rescue as two Wolves’ efforts were correctly ruled out for handball and offside respectively.

After three chastening defeats in as many games, Hasenhuttl will be quietly pleased with his side’s performance as Danny Ings scored in his fourth consecutive game. This was not a vintage performance by any means but there were some promising signs that Southampton will be able to compete in the coming tests of character over the next few weeks.

A penalty conceded by skipper Hojbjerg was the only real negative from the match but even with that, some have argued that there was an element of deception from Matt Doherty in drawing the foul. Although the Southampton defence looked nervy at times, this was a welcome respite after a period of disappointing results.
