Amazon’s Alexa plays quiz master as Saints fans have the chance to lead the club to glory.

Everyone loves a good sports quiz and now a new skill from Amazon’s Alexa lets Southampton supporters from up-and-down the Premier League indulge that itch.

The experience even comes with words of encouragement from captain Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.

The press release for the quiz reveals that: “users will be given three Premier League questions a day, and you’ll go one-on-one against competitive supporters around the country to test your football knowledge”.

As opponents go head-to-head, they accrue points which in turn is brought together on an overall score board.

Not only will football fans know once and for all who the smartest club truly is, but it’s a table Saints might actually find themselves top of.

If you wish to hear the dulcet tones of PEH, ask the assistant, ‘open Premier League Quiz’.

The addition to the assistant’s skill set comes after it learned how to insult rival teams and answer fun questions about selected clubs. Remember, if you want to poke some fun at Portsmouth’s expense (and who doesn’t) simply say ‘Alexa, roast Portsmouth’.

Amazon’s newfound interest in football comes on the verge of its first foray into live Premier League broadcasting.

The retail giant is set to screen two rounds of fixtures across the festive period. SFC’s matches against Chelsea and Norwich will be streamed live on the company’s Prime Video service.

While the American business has not revealed the cost of the 20 games, The Telegraph cites analysts who put the payout at around “£90M”.

The move will mark the first time the English top-flight has had a full round of games shown live.

While a global audience receives this type of comprehensive coverage on a weekly basis, English fans are typically prevented from it by the antiquated Saturday 3 PM blackout rule.
