Preston’s Pick: Ryan Bertrand

Bertrand took a knock on international duty and was held out of the Burnley match, but should be fit to go here. If not for him, expect Sam McQueen to reprise his duties from Thursday. Normally I’d say a player with all of one top-flight match under his belt shouldn’t be starting Europa games, but we’re a bit thin here and McQueen acquitted himself well last time out.

Hickson’s Pick: Sam McQueen

Saints academy star Sam McQueen only made his Premier League debut on Sunday, but I think he deserves to start on Thursday as well. When Sam replaced Matt Targett in the 14th minute last Sunday, he had a blinder of a game. He was solid in defence and came forward when possible and even won the penalty that led to Charlie Austin scoring Saints’s third goal. Even though it would be a massive step up for McQueen, I’m confident that he can prove his worth on the big stage and make his Europa League debut at the San Siro.
