Southampton take on league-leading Liverpool at home tomorrow. Here’s how we see the Saints lining up for their toughest challenge of the season.

Southampton march into this week in dire need of points. Whether they’ll get them against the ruthless efficiency of Jurgen Klopp is another story.

As we make a mad-dash to the new year, Klopp will almost certainly want to keep his foot on the gas and have his team give the sort of demolishing result they put up last match-week, taking Watford apart 6-1. Claude Puel, naturally, will want to avoid that as Southampton look to avoid dropping three straight Premier League games for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

Realistically, getting points off the high-flying Reds will likely be a matter of hunkering down, playing defensive ball and grinding out a draw, though that sort of game isn’t Puel’s forte. That all said, here’s how we can expect the Saints to come marching into St. Mary’s tomorrow.
