Defensive Midfield – Oriol Romeu

Who else? Romeu has started every game so far, across all competitions, and doesn’t look to be slowing down in the slightest. He’s been a rock in the middle of the pitch, stuffing attacks like many an American Thanksgiving turkey and importantly, doing so without running into too much card trouble. That, of course, was Victor Wanyama’s vice, and it’s relieving to know his replacement carries all of his quality and none of the disciplinary baggage. Romeu also brings the ability to carry the ball forward with a bit more pace and confidence, a definite boon in the Claude Puel diamond system.
