1. Jordan Pickford

There’s no denial that Sunderland have been far-and-away the worst team in the Premier League this season. They already boast 20 losses to their name for the campaign and 14 of their 24 goals this year have come from experienced striker Jermain Defoe.

But one man who has also had a stellar season for the Black Cats is their young goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. The 23-year-old has enjoyed an impressive break-out season, making 23 appearances in all competitions for the side.

With Alex McCarthy failing to make a serious impression and Stuart Taylor and Mouez Hassen in the last few months of their contract, the Saints could look to sign a goalkeeper this summer.

At times this year Fraser Forster has dipped in form, but without major competition the England international has remained in the starting XI – signing Pickford would change that.

Naturally he’s already been tapped up by the likes of Liverpool and Everton if reports are to be believed, but that shouldn’t stop the Saints from showing an interest in the England under-21 international.

At 23 Pickford has plenty of room to grow and could realistically have another 15 years in the top flight less in him, meaning it would only be a worthwhile investment.
