Cuco Martina

Martina has found his stay at St. Mary’s frustrating. He has quickly made his way down the depth chart falling behind Cedric Soares under manager Claude Puel. Even with speculation that Cedric will leave this upcoming summer, it is still time for Martina to find a new home.

The first indication that Martina will not likely find the field even with a potential Cedric departure is the signing of Jeremy Pied. Even though hindered by an injury for most of this season, the minute he was healthy, Pied found his way back into the game-day lineup over Martina.

The 27-year-old has made a total of 36 appearances in the Southampton lineup since joining in 2015. The only memorable moment that stays in the mindset of the Saints fans is his long-range goal against Arsenal.

Although he is the only Curacaoan to score in the Premier League, this should not be enough to justify him staying on the team. Martina needs to find a place where he is not ridiculed by the fans and where he can get regular game time. Even if that means moving to the Championship or another league.
