Friday’s Fan Polls is a weekly series in which Saints Marching collects all of their daily Twitter polls from the past week and analyzes them all in one place, providing fan thoughts and reaction to all things Southampton FC from the past seven days.

Due to other commitments, this week’s edition of FFP comes slightly earlier than normal, and therefore doesn’t feature today’s poll like it did last time around.

Despite that, there was still plenty to discuss from the past week at Southampton, as the Saints edged closer to a potential eighth-placed finish with a win over West Bromwich Albion.

In mid-week the on-loan Jason McCarthy spoke out about his potential future, whilst James Ward-Prowse was named the Saints’ Player of the Month for March.

The Weekend’s Action

On Saturday the Saints made it three Premier League games without defeat, thanks to a 1-0 win over Tony Pulis’ West Brom side. A single goal from Jordy Clasie was enough for Southampton to take home all three points.

And before the game fans of Claude Puel’s side were in fact correct when it came to predicting how many goals the Saints would score.

Some fans remained ambitious with votes going to the ‘four or more’ answer, however the majority were accepting that Pulis’ set-up would limit the Saints’ chances on goal, as displayed through the Clasie wonder-strike separating the teams.

With Steven Davis and Oriol Romeu out both defensive midfielders were changed for the game, and with Virgil van Dijk also absent it meant Maya Yoshida took the armband for the encounter.

After an impressive game as the Saints’ captain, the majority of the fan-base were in agreement that the Japanese international warranted more playing time next season, even if the side added a new centre-back in the summer.
