Wednesday-Thursday

The final two polls of the week featured two vastly different topics, and different leagues in fact. On Wednesday Jason McCarthy spoke about his potential after talk that he could have a role in the first team next season – Saints Marching’s piece on him resulting in him following the account!

Nonetheless, fans were in agreement that the young centre-back, who graduated from the Saints’ academy, should get his chance next campaign.

Whilst it was one of the lesser-voted polls of the week, it still begged the question as to whether the man, who has scored five times this season, would get his chance next year. If they don’t they could risk losing him, with Sheffield United among the teams linked with a move for him.

Finally, as the last poll of the week, Saints fans discussed and voted as to whether any Southampton players would make it into the Premier League Team of the Season.

Had he not been injured Virgil van Dijk had a serious case, but with his long layoff it’s difficult to see him beating any of the league’s other top performing centre-halves.

The poll came after the candidates for the player of the season were announced, as we enter awards season in English football.

It seems like a handful more think one will make the cut, with Cedric being discussed by one fan for the right-back slot. However nearly as many believe that no Southampton player will make the eleven.
