It has been reported that Southampton are now battling the Scottish giants for the rights of Belgian League star Henry Onyekuru. Celtic had the opportunity to sign the winger in the January transfer window, but failed to take hold of the opportunity.

The winger has now made it clear in his latest interview that he is ready to leave the club. It is said that one of his dreams is to one day play in the Premier League.

These type of comments are obviously the things you want to hear if you are Southampton. Especially if you may not be able to offer first-team football right away.

“After the [Europa League Qualifications], I will announce my decision.” Says Onyekuru.

“I want to take the next step and play elsewhere. My ultimate goal is to one day play in the Premier League.”

“I believe I have had my best season, but I want to leave Eupen on a high and I would love to get as far up the table as possible before I leave.”

“But it’s really been my first season in a major league and I know I still have a lot to learn”

The player would be a perfect fit for what Southampton is attempting to do with the development of their talent. He is very raw but oozing with talent. If we are able to develop him into the player that he could be, we could have a star on our hands.
