Friday’s Fan Polls is a weekly series in which Saints Marching collects all of their daily Twitter polls from the past week and analyzes them all in one place, providing fan thoughts and reaction to all things Southampton FC from the past seven days.

The last week was relatively uneventful for the Saints, with it starting with a drab 3-0 loss to Manchester City. Throughout the week there was increased transfer speculation but besides that little concrete news to report.

What’s more Southampton’s next fixture isn’t until Tuesday, in the form of a televised clash against league-leading Chelsea. The game is at Stamford Bridge.

It means that as a result this week’s polls feature more of a transfer and analysis theme to them rather than more concrete decisions for the fans.

Also, they will now run Saturday through to Thursday, in order to not feature a half-finished poll that is still running on the day of the article’s writing.

Saturday’s Poll

The weekend featured just the single poll, which came before Saturday’s afternoon loss to the Citizens.

It posed the question as to whether Uruguayan defender Martin Caceres should finally get his opportunity to start.

Despite being reported as one of the club’s highest earners, the former Juventus man has been limited to appearances for the U23s side. However, fans weren’t keen on the 30-year-old replacing Jack Stephens in the starting XI.

Nearly two-thirds of all voters wanted the latter to remain in the team, something he has done now for over two months straight.
