Friday’s Fan Polls is a weekly series in which Saints Marching collects all of their daily Twitter polls from the past week and analyzes them all in one place, providing fan thoughts and reaction to all things Southampton FC from the past seven days.

The Saints slumped to a disappointing 4-2 loss in mid-week, having not played at the weekend due to the Chelsea’s cup commitments.

The week’s latter stages provided some promising injury updates from the boss Claude Puel, as English duo Charlie Austin and Matt Targett returned to training ahead of the last six games.

This week’s polls featured potential starters in the first team as well as an interesting one on an international call-up among others.

The Weekend

Saturday and Sunday made it feel like March again for Saints fans, with no game to be found due to the FA Cup semi-finals.

Therefore the first poll of the week had a lighter note to it, although we suspect some voters didn’t read the second option before they clicked.

Of the 26 people who voted, a whopping 85 percent voted for yes, whilst another 15 percent voted for…yes.

Nonetheless the fans were in agreement that it seemed baffling that the side didn’t play, especially with previous congestion.

Sunday saw Southampton linked with Frenchman Christopher Jullien, and if the Saints are to sign a couple of centre-backs then Jack Stephens would once again be shot down the pecking order.

Therefore the next poll questioned whether the young defender should stay at the club next season.

Despite the possibility of limited appearances and a potential hindrance on growth, the majority of the 73 voters thought that Stephens should stay on next season and play a role in the squad.

However hardly anyone thought that he should leave the club permanently, however a solid 22 percent felt a loan, maybe to the Championship, would be a good move for him.
