Weighing up the pros and cons of Marco Silva replacing Puel at Southampton
By Chris Hughes
Speculation surrounding Claude Puel’s future at Southampton is gathering some serious pace, as he could be sacked come the end of the season.
Yesterday French media outlet L’Equipe reported that Claude Puel’s future at the Saints faced some serious uncertainty, with memories of the EFL Cup Final seemingly very much in the past.
Taking the runner-up medals out of the equation and the season hasn’t drawn many plaudits, with a Europa League group stage exit and a significantly lower goal tally summing up the campaign.
As a result, Claude Puel could be sacked if reports are to be believed, especially after the home fans booed following the bore goalless draw against Hull City.
Ironically, the man at the helm of the weekend’s opponents that is the fan’s favourite to replace the Frenchman, with Marco Silva in the driving seat to replace him.
Those on Twitter voted in majority that the Portuguese man would be a solid replacement for Puel, who could still guide the Saints to a top-half finish.
But Silva’s potential achievements this season would far exceed that, as he bids to keep Hull up after they previously looked dead-set for relegation.
But would he be a good replacement for Claude Puel is he is sacked? Saints Marching takes a look at a few positives and negatives surrounding the current Tigers boss.
