Yesterday Southampton stuttered to their second goalless draw in as many games, holding Liverpool at bay but also failing to create much themselves.

In a game that’s climactic point came through a 66th-minute penalty save, you’d be surprised to hear that were plenty of takeaways to be made from Southampton’s most recent performance.

The result means the Saints haven’t tasted victory in a month, thanks to two draws and two defeats over the last four game-weeks.

It means that Claude Puel has faced questions over the future of his job at the Saints beyond the end of the season, something which has been met positively by the fans.

However despite this they haven’t been beaten by Liverpool now in four games this season, keeping four clean sheets too. What’s more, you can’t ignore that the Saints are still tenth, only a point off Leicester above them.

With that in mind, Saints Marching takes a look at three takeaways that can be made from their 0-0 draw with the Reds yesterday afternoon.
