In Fraser we trust

There’s no shame in admitting that Fraser Forster hasn’t been at his best recently – some fans were even calling for Mouez Hassen to get his chance ahead of the England international.

However yesterday he proved to his doubters that he could still produce on the big occasion, pulling out some great saves from the tricky Liverpool attackers.

Whilst several of Jurgen Klopp’s side’s shots were tame and straight down the throat of the former Celtic man, he produced a handful of truly world-class saves, including a couple of close range headers that could’ve gone in on another day.

Obviously the 29-year-old also enjoyed that stellar penalty save which in turn won the Saints a point. It was his first penalty save for Southampton, having conceded the eight he has previously faced.

But the spot-kick from Milner was no average effort, although it could’ve been a yard or so further left. Despite that, Forster did well to get his huge figure down to his bottom right to palm it away.

Hopefully he can keep his form going and enjoy and end-of-season purple patch, especially with a difficult game against Arsenal coming up this Wednesday.
