Cedric is a brilliant right-back

With Virgil van Dijk being all the talk of the Southampton defense this season, Cedric Soares’ stellar second season with the Saints has gone unnoticed.

Last night he was once again one of the liveliest players on the pitch, before he sadly had to be withdrawn over injury concerns in the 69th minute.

Before then he was one of the Saints’ best attacking threats, with James Ward-Prowse cutting in off the right and giving the Portuguese international plenty of space to roam on the flank.

He might of only attempted the one cross but it was accurate, and he drew a free-kick off Eric Bailly in the second half which produced one of the best shots of the game by Dusan Tadic.

Little-to-no transfer rumours have included the right-back so far bar one link to Chelsea which failed to gain pace. Keeping him is an essential and we should be glad that speculation has been limited.
