Holger Badstuber (Bayern Munich)

Another centre back, this time a free agent. Badstuber has had an injury plagued career, spending 15 years with Bayern Munich. He most recently had a successful loan spell at Schalke, but with his contract up at Bayern Munich at the end of the season he has made it clear he wants a new experience abroad.

Badstuber would bring immense experience and was touted as one of the best young defenders around before he suffered serious injury. Bayern Munich’s patience with him shows the ability is there.

Another who will generate competition for his signature, but with no transfer fee and almost guaranteed first team football available, Southampton may be a good destination for the now 28 year old German.
