Dusan Tadic could be on his way out of the club this summer, and West Ham have been given solid odds to sign him.
The Serbian playmaker may have registered more assists than any other Saints player this season, but his production levels have still been significantly worse than the year before.
Part of Tadic’s lower assist count could be due to the sale of a target man striker, but what can’t be ignored has been his lackluster attitude and his demand for more minutes this season.
As a result he could be sold by the club as part of a summer shake-up, and if is he to go then SkyBet are currently offering very low odds on West Ham United being the destination in question.
Manuel Lanzini has taken on the responsibility of replacing the outgoing Dimitri Payet as the Hammers’ main attacking midfielder, but little would argue that Tadic isn’t the stronger of the two when it comes to passing and dead-ball situations.
Next: Ross Barkley is the key to Saints signing Sigurdsson
Therefore there’s definitely scope for the 29-year-old to fit into Slaven Bilic’s plans, with their manager hoping to improve on a up-and-down season. The Croat shopped abroad for a lot of his signings last summer with little success, making the experienced Tadic even more of a perfect fit.
If Claude Puel was to stay on at the club into next season you couldn’t argue that Tadic could be one of the players out of the exit door, with the two having clashed over the Serbian international’s playing time and lack of minutes this campaign.
The Frenchman has since given in and played the former Twente man for the full 90 on several occasions, but as a result has alienated a lot of Saints fans have been often booed when the likes of Gaddiadini and Ward-Prowse have gone off despite having better games.
However it seems unlikely that Les Reed and co. would want to sell to a direct Premier League rival, with West Ham only a point beneath the Saints this season.
