Southampton have reportedly begun the process of replacing the outgoing Claude Puel, with a host of fresh talent linked with the vacancy.
Following the breaking news that former Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel would NOT take over as manager of the Saints following Claude Puel’s departure, as a many as three coaches have instantly been credited with an interest in the role.
The favourite is Dutchman Frank de Boer who has also been linked with taking over at Crystal Palace. He may seem familiar to Saints fans as he was in charge of Inter Milan at the time the club faced Southampton in the Europa League.
De Boer remained in charge for just 14 games, losing seven and getting the boot before getting a serious opportunity to stamp his mark on the team. Prior to that he managed Ajax for all of six years, winning four Eredivisie titles in the process, whilst also threading through a host of young talent from the academy.

The same source is also one of many media outlets to suggest that the Saints could also be in for Mauricio Pellegrino, who most recently managed Alaves in Spain.
In his first and only season with the club he guided them to the Copa Del Rey final for the first time in their history, while he also has managerial experience with Valenica, Estudiantes and Independiente.
It means that in his five years in management he’s already held four positions, having failed to reach a century of games for any of the teams he’s coached. Despite this he’s a wanted man, with Crystal Palace once again set to rivals the Saints for his signature.
Meanwhile a slightly surprising report has also emerged than Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs is interested in kick-starting his managerial career with the Saints.
The Welshman took temporary charge of the Red Devils following David Moyes’ sacking, and remained part of the setup as assistant manager to Louis van Gaal for two years. Giggs was then ousted following Jose Mourinho’s arrival and has been linked with a host of jobs ever since.
However the legendary winger has been criticised for being extremely picky with what would be his first managerial role, having reportedly turned down the chance to be interviewed for the once-vacant Swansea City role. Giggs was believed to have been promised the United manager’s position after LVG’s retirement.
However he apparently sees Southampton as a great setting to finally start his career in proper management, having retired three years ago.
