Southamption acquire services of youngster Will Ferry

Southampton have continued their busy start to the month of July, as the teenage Will Ferry has joined from Bury.

The Saints have once again shown their intent by planning for the future with the signing of Will Ferry from League One’s Bury.

Mauricio Pellegrino’s side have reportedly been scouting the youngster for some time, landing their man for undisclosed six-figure fee.

Ferry is yet to make a senior appearance for the Shakers, but regularly trained with the senior side despite being born this side of the millennium.

The 16-year-old has been part of the Bury setup for nearly a decade, working his way up the ranks and earning interest from of England’s elite as a result.

Ferry featured for the Irish Under-18’s side in January as he continued to play above his pay-grade, and will likely feature for Southampton’s respective side next season.

He was named Bury’s Youth Player of the Month as recently as March, and aged 15 was regularly playing for Bury’s top youth team.

A statement on Bury’s official club site read as follows:

"“Our very best wishes are extended to Will as he begins this next step of what we know will be a successful career in the game. The deal that takes Will to the south coast, although undisclosed, will see the club benefit in the future depending on his continued success.“Everyone at Bury Football Club would like to wish Will the best of luck at St Mary’s and thank him for his efforts whilst at Gigg Lane.”"
