4. Jordan Pickford

Last season, many of the Saints faithful showed sheer annoyance at the poor performances of England international Fraser Forster. It was definitely his worst at the south coast, with a majority of fans wanting a replacement.

Whether we need a replacement or not, Southampton definitely missed a treat with Jordan Pickford. The then Sunderland goalkeeper has great potential and was one of the shining lights in a dark season for Sunderland.

A future England no.1 was on some fans wishlists, including mine. Although, despite rumoured interest the goalkeeper went over to Merseyside under former Saints boss Ronald Koeman. He completed a rather expensive £30 million move.

Yes, that fee was rather ridiculous and definitely not worth it at this stage of his career. Although, it doesn’t diminish the fact that Southampton missed out on one of Europe’s most up and coming goalkeepers.
