Yesterday Southampton announced their final two friendlies ahead of the 2017/18 season, with both being played at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Just a few days after announcing a training camp in France ahead of a game against Saint-Etienne later this month, the Saints have revealed their final pre-season games, continuing their one-stop shop around Europe by welcoming Germany’s Augsburg and Spain’s Sevilla to St. Mary’s in early August.

The games will take place on Wednesday the 2th and Saturday the 5th respectively, allowing a week before Southampton’s first game of the season against Swansea.

But the news of the games was not the only thing Southampton announced via their official Twitter, instead also letting fans know that sponsors Virgin Media would be offering two tickets for the price of one for the friendlies.

It means that if the supporters keep hold of their Augsburg tickets – which will cost £12 for adults – then they will be allowed into the Sevilla game a few days later completely free.

The news comes not long after the club also revealed that fans who lived locally to the ground would be offered subsidized ticket prices for several home matches this season.

In the modern era of football tickets prices have continued to soar through the roof, meaning these active efforts to offer discounts and offers and a great thing by the club.

If the Saints were to just straight-up lower all ticket prices it would leave little room for offers like the Sevilla friendly, meaning the steady approach taken by the club is the right move.

In time it would nice to see Southampton continue to offer admission discount and other offers like they have done before, in order to continue to make the average fan feel valued in a time where four tickets would set you back over £100.
