Southampton lost their first league game of the season yesterday afternoon, with Watford winning the encounter 2-0.

Southampton came back from the international break with a weak performance against Marco Silva’s Watford. Goals from Abdoulaya Doucourè and Daryl Janmaat sealed a game of which the Hornets completely dominated.

Few chances came for the side throughout the 90 minutes meaning another game without a goal for Pellegrino’s men. The Saints faithful displayed their anger and disappointment at half time and full time, with echoes of jeers and boes bellowing at St Mary’s.

Bearing in mind all this, how good or bad were those out on the pitch? Ethan Evans takes a look.
