Manolo Gabbiadini remains isolated

Another game, another goalless affair for Manolo Gabbiadini. He’s scored just the once so far this season and it came from perhaps the only splitting ball the Saints have played all campaign.

The Italian had a good chance early on when James Ward-Prowse found him in the box, but there was little else to note from his 70 minutes or so on the pitch.

Despite playing both Sofiane Boufal and Nathan Redmond – two pacey, direct players who will run at defences – Gabbiadni once again remained without service, looking frustrated from start to finish.

Southampton’s lack of attacking intent needs to be resolved sooner rather than later – or results simply won’t improve.
