Southampton 0-2 Watford: Three match takeaways

Southampton should’ve signed an attacking-midfielder
For our dream deadline day signings, I cried out about our need for a fresh attacking dimension – I suggested we try for Hakim Ziyech.
Despite scoring significantly less than in Ronald Koeman’s final season at the helm, we didn’t bring in a single new attacking player this summer. which is criminal.
Jay Rodriguez was sold, Sam Gallagher was loaned out, and no new strikers were bought in. Whilst Mario Lemina has shown he can play further forward against Huddersfield, our set of attacking-midfielders and wingers have remained identical to the season before.
When they finally get a chance, Charlie Austin and Gabbiadini have shown that they can score, they simply aren’t getting the service.
Both Redmond and Boufal lack composure in the final third and Tadic’s effort and decision-making remains questionable. Not signing someone like Yann Karamoh or even Patrick Roberts for fresh blood going forward could end up being a big mistake.
