Cedric Soares
The Portuguese International came back from break and turned in his best 90 minutes of the season. He was tested early and often by impressive Brazilian Under-20 Richarilson and stood the test. In my opinion, not getting himself in the referee’s book was an accomplishment itself.
Cedric was continually in good defensive position and made some big one-on-one tackles. He may have gotten lucky on a punted ball to Andre Gray late in the second half. However, without him on the pitch, the score line would have been far worse.
Late in the game he showed his conditioning was top notch, still bombing forward on the right hand side. His crossing could have been more accurate if I am nit picking. Although he was the only Saint to test the keeper which forced a diving save from Heurelho Gomes.
