Stoke City vs. Southampton: Opposition threat
By Luke Dennis
Maxim Choupo-Moting
Recently, Stoke have made a name for theirselves by signing players that are huge names in the game, take Xherdan Shaqiri and Bojan as prime examples, and when fans saw Maxim Choupo-Moting’s name in the papers, a few may have been forgiven for not knowing who he was.
The 28-year-old, who signed from Schalke in the Summer, has quickly made a name for himself in the Premier League, scoring both goals in his side’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United.
He is a positive player who loves to drive forward, and is a nightmare for defenders when he is on top of his game, unfortunately that doesn’t occur regularly enough.
Choupo-Moting netted 18 goals in 82 games for Schalke, which isn’t a jaw-dropping record, but nonetheless he is a tricky player Southampton will have to be wary of.
He is often deployed on the wing due to his pressing skills, but can play as a striker- which he has been with Saido Berahino’s troubles in front of goal.
