Midfielders

ORIOL ROMEU. 6.5. Romeu gave a solid performance in the midfield, but again was out-shined by his partner. His possession was better this week, but when we need a goal, he offers nothing going forward. He does get credit for navigating the game following an early yellow card. However his impact was not truly felt.. Defensive Center-Midfielder. Southampton

8.5. Lemina continues to be the star of the show. He is incredibly confident under pressure and makes the game look easy. Just when he was getting some freedom to go forward, he was subbed for Charlie Austin to the dismay of his partner Romeu and all Saints fans. Lemina got a huge boost in my ratings tracking back late in the game to cut out a slip pass from Shaqiri.. Defensive Center-Midfielder. Southampton. MARIO LEMINA

5. Davis had little impact in this game before being subbed in the 60th minute for Sofiane Boufal. His captaincy and presence is important to the team, but as a #10 he brings little attack to the table. This was a game for a more creative player in his role and at least Pellegrino noticed it.. Center-Midfielder. Southampton. STEVEN DAVIS

4. Was right to get subbed for Gabbiadini in the second half. Just didn’t show any soccer sense in this game and created no chances for himself or teammates. I will give him a pass for a bad game, but these are the type of contests we expected him to influence.. Attacking-Midfielder. Southampton. NATHAN REDMOND

Southampton. DUSAN TADIC. 6.5. It is hard for me to say, but I think Tadic had a good game. He showed us flashes of great wing play, leaving Erik Pieters on the floor before delivering a cross. His right foot leaves a lot to be desired, and he isn’t scoring which could be arguments for his replacement. Although, his last few weeks have shown improvement after moving out of the #10 role..
