Attacking Midfield Options

With two up-top and two wide players stretching the defence, this makes the attacking midfield player job easier. This due to have more options to pick out as well as having more time on the ball than what they would have if playing in a more defensive formation of 4-2-3-1.

With this, following his performance versus Stoke, many have called on Sofiane Boufal to be given a run of games. One match takeaway was that the Moroccan caused the opposition defence problems. So he could possibly thrive in a new set-up of 3-5-2.

Whether it is him or Steven Davis who starts, who has been arguably one of Saints’ better performers this season. The change of system will allow them to be more influential in games, and in result generate more positive results. Southampton fans being starved of these lately.
