Brighton 1-1 Southampton: Three match takeaways

In a rather uneventful game down at the AMEX, Southampton were held to a 1-1 draw against recently promoted Brighton.

Saints took the lead but conceded early in the second half, meaning that the points were shared in the end.

Southampton have ended the month of October undefeated, with five points from a possible nine. However, it does mean that Mauricio Pellegrino’s side have drawn against all three of the promoted sides – a worrying stat.

Despite scoring, Saints didn’t impress as much as they might’ve done in recent weeks so here are some key findings and some analysis of what went well and what needs to be improved on for the game against Burnley next Saturday.
