Southampton fans have made it very clear this season that goalkeeper Fraser Forster has been below his usual standard, and does not warrant his starting spot.

Dropped from the England squad in two of the last three selections by Gareth Southgate, Forster has cost the Saints numerous points with his inconsistency and lack of conviction.

His inability get across his line has seen a host of players take advantage from close range and from far out, with Glenn Murray’s looping header and Abdoulaye Doucoure’s bouncing half volley as good examples.

With Alex McCarthy struggling to put together a decent run of form himself with the Under-23’s squad, Forster hasn’t lost his position in the starting XI, even in the Carabao Cup where Southampton lost to Wolves.

As a result, supporters have lost their patience and have called for a new goalkeeper to be signed in January. Here are three possible examples of stoppers that the Saints could bring in.
