Goalkeeper and defenders

Typical game for Forster who is clearly low on confidence. Looked nervous when crosses came in and handling abysmal as ever. Nothing he could’ve done about the first goal, but could have done better with Salah’s second, and the parry from Firmino’s shot for the third goal was poor.. Goalkeeper. Southampton. FRASER FORSTER. 5

6. An anonymous performance from Soares who rarely had the opportunity to bomb forward in his trademark style. Any crosses he did deliver didn’t have a distinguished target, possibly owing to our team selection.. Right-back. Southampton. CEDRIC SOARES

WESLEY HOEDT. 5. Made a glaring error on 41 minutes when he allowed Salah to waltz past him and score, believing him offside. Looked poor throughout, reacting second to every ball. Will struggle to keep Maya Yoshida out of the side next Sunday.. Centre-back. Southampton

5. Van Dijk looks a shadow of his former self, possibly owing to his recent return from a long injury layoff, but more likely due to his wantaway attitude. His lethargic and laboured performance saw his would-be suitors dominate.. Centre-back. Southampton. VIRGIL VAN DIJK

Left-back. Southampton. RYAN BERTRAND. 6. Better than usual from the England international, who looked like he gave something close to 100% effort. Often got down to the byline but his crosses didn’t trouble a shaky Liverpool backline.
