Wesley Hoedt

The fact that the back four had the most to do all game, it is not suprising that they came out on top in statistics. The other Dutch centre-half actually ranked higher than any other Saints player on the statistics site whoscored.com.

The former-Lazio man had the most successful long balls of all the Southampton starting XI and completed the most passes. Hoedt has struggled to get a consistent run in the side after being often rotated with Maya Yoshida under Pellegrino.

He’ll be hoping that he has made enough of an impression that he will make another start against Everton next weekend, however based on previous decisions, I hope he is not getting too comfortable.
