Wayne Rooney

We all know what Wayne Rooney is capable of, and the expectation will not be diminished when he returns yet again to St. Mary’s in another Premier League encounter. Rooney has scored 275 career club goals, and it would be wrong to rule him out of the scoring come Sunday.

Despite looking to be winding down his long and successful career, Rooney still poses a very obvious threat to a fragile Southampton side.

Rooney, who has five goals in 14 appearances this season, has moved back into an attacking midfield role – exploiting his excellent range of passing and long-range shooting. His trademark piledriver could worry the dodgy Fraser Forster, who has looked particularly shaky in recent weeks.
