Southampton got back to winning ways against Everton at St. Mary’s this afternoon, romping to a 4-1 win over the Toffees on a cold Sunday afternoon.

Austin forced himself into Pellegrino’s plans with a double with Tadic and Davis adding to the score-sheet. In truth, Everton never really threatened, looking toothless in attack for large portions of the game.

The performance was a positive one, with fluent attacking football being seen by the Southampton faithful for the first time in a while, with Boufal and Tadic terrorising the Everton midfield and defence. Gylfi Sigurdsson scored what was an equaliser just before half time with a stunning strike, bouncing off the woodwork twice before creeping over the line.

Pellegrino saw fit to bring in players who had seen little-to-no first team action this season, which proved to be an inspiring decision. Hojbjerg, Ward-Prowse & Austin in particular had points to prove today, with a huge game against the behemoth that is Manchester City approaching in midweek.
