Southampton face league leaders Manchester City at the Etihad on Wednesday, going into the game high on confidence after a comprehensive 4-1 win over Everton.

However, Man City will also be brimming with confidence being top of the Premier League by eight points and still yet to be beaten this season. Pep Guardiola’s side have been frightening at times this season, scoring 42 goals and conceding just eight in 13 games of football.

Man City have obviously spent ridiculous amounts of money over the last few years, so they should be in the position they are currently.

However, it doesn’t always work like that. The confidence in which the blue side of Manchester play with provides the foundations of the superb attacking football they play.

The confidence to play with it in their own box with Ederson, Stones and Otamendi gives their attacking players a chance to make cutting edge runs or just get the ball to feet. The midfield of Silva, Fernandinho and De Bruyne has the right amount of balance with Fernandinho’s defensive nature allowing Silva and KDB to get forward.

Their wide players of Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling have had an excellent season, with Sane picking up Premier League Player of the Month for October and Sterling scoring eight goals already this season.

Their team is topped off by two world class strikers in Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus. The two strikers have scored 17 goals between themselves this season being second and third in the league for goals, respectively.

The odds are massively in favour of Man City, for obvious reasons, but which of their world class players is gonna be the biggest threats to Southampton? Saints Marching contributor Jack Deery gives his three picks to be wary of.
