There should not have been any expectation to come away with a result. Manchester City have been evermore impressive so far this campaign, having won all of their games par one.

The first half, Southampton put up some fight, positives to take going forward despite setting up defensively for this game. City did threaten but entered half time at 0-0.

The second half, more entertaining for both sets of fans. No surprise that City would go one up, who had scored 42 in 13 games before this game. Saints equalised in the 75th minute to try snatch a point. But it would not be enough, Raheem Sterling winning the game for the Sky Blue’s in the dying moments.

Given the final result and disappointment, there were a few positives/thoughts to take away from the game. So what were they?
