The English shot-stopper has been criticised a lot of late due to bad form. However, against City, he played impressively.

Despite conceding the two goals, Forster also helped keep Southampton in the game at times. The former-Celtic man faced 12 shots at his goal, pulling off double saves at times. Therefore it is good to see the keeper given praise when it’s fully deserved, having been on the receiving end of mentioned criticism of late.

The only problem for Forster though, is his consistency. There have been times in the past when the England international has been outstanding one game, then bad the next.

For the sake of him and Saints, it will be good to see him carry confidence from this game into the next one at Bournemouth this weekend.
