Midfielders

Southampton. ORIOL ROMEU. 7. Scored the Saints equaliser when he arrived in the box with a perfectly timed run, and side-footed home following excellent work by Boufal. Part of the all important and tireless screen in front of the defence, working well with Mario Lemina and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Has some good competition from both his midfield partners now as they compete to fill the likely two central roles for Sunday’s game.. Central-Midfield

PIERRE-EMILE HOJBJERG. 5. Rewarded for his impressive display against Everton with another start here, but was always likely to retain his place with Saints looking to stop City at source in midfield. His influence is always going to be greater when his side have more of the ball, and Saints rightly conceded possession to try and get a result. Good to see him making a strong comeback to the squad as he is a player with great potential.. Central-Midfield. Southampton

Started his first game since recent injury, and tired hard to make an impression. Always a powerful presence in driving Saints forward and, after impressive early performances this season, is likely to be a vital component in the upcoming schedule.. Central-Midfield. Southampton. MARIO LEMINA. 6
