Midfield

7. Romeu had a typical game in the centre of the park and played effectively against a packed Bournemouth midfield. Made a couple of important tackles to prevent Bournemouth breakaways.. Holding Midfield. Southampton. ORIOL ROMEU

6.5. The Northern Ireland captain had a quiet but steady game in a central berth. Didn’t do anything of note, but didn’t make any catastrophic errors.. Centre Midfield. Southampton. STEVEN DAVIS

JAMES WARD-PROWSE. 5. Ward-Prowse had a frankly awful first half performance and it was no surprise to see the young midfielder hooked at half-time by Mauricio Pellegrino. The England U21 international will do well to keep his starting berth for the visit of Arsenal.. Right-wing. Southampton

Tadic had another slightly promising game in behind the main striker for the Saints, but still struggles to show the sparkling form of three or four years ago. Substituted for Lemina on 74 minutes.. Attacking Midfield. Southampton. DUSAN TADIC. 7

6.5. Again Boufal was the bright spark in Southampton’s attack, combining well at times with Ryan Bertrand. However – as is the problem with the Morrocan – he often held on to the ball too long, and his touch was uncharacteristically poor.. Left-wing. Southampton. SOFIANE BOUFAL
