Midfielders

7. Possibly on the pitch due to the weather and his clinical ability it set pieces.  Made little impact in the game, but did not do anything to hurt the team.  Has to be happy he got the full 90.. Centre-midfielder. Southampton. JAMES WARD-PROWSE

8.5. Man of the match for Southampton in my opinion.  You have to stay focused for the full 90 minutes to see his impact, because his interjections are so quick.  Had one poor tackle that set up an Arsenal free kick in good position.  However, he was in top form as the boss of the midfield without Mario Lemina.. Making a strong case to start week in and week out.  Made a huge block on an Arsenal counter-attack after running 70 metres. Was almost always around the ball defensively, and strong in possession.. Centre-midfielder. Southampton. PIERRE-EMILE HOJBJERG. 8

NATHAN REDMOND. 6. Redmond was not confident enough going forward against a vulnerable Arsenal defense.  Timing of a couple passes sent teammates into offside position, and only attempted one shot on goal.  Needs to score a goal and get his mojo back.. Attacking-midfielder. Southampton

Southampton. DUSAN TADIC. 6.5. Contributed immediately with the assist on Austin’s goal.  Then faded as the game went on.  Lack of pace was an issue in the second half, with inability to counter.  Not a bad performance by any means, but defensively he gives up too many fouls, and that is not good against an opponent who will dominate possession..
