Southampton 1-1 Arsenal: Three key players

There were a number of important performances from Southampton players in their 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Sunday despite them letting their lead slip late on.

Charlie Austin put Saints ahead clinically after three minutes with his fourth goal in three starts, and the home side could have extended their lead before half-time.

However, they were left to rue missed opportunities when Arsenal substitute Olivier Giroud headed home with two minutes left on the clock.

Despite the late disappointment, it was a committed performance from the Saints and they almost carried out their clever game plan well. Encouraging signs have come from their recent matches and manager Mauricio Pellegrino is beginning to implement his tactical knowledge positively.
