Goalkeepers and defenders

FRASER FORSTER. 7. The score line would have looked a lot worse if not for his performance.  It is hard to fault him for any of the goals that went in as well.  Needs to take a page out of Schmeichel’s game and start a counter attack through better distribution.. Goalkeeper. Southampton

Right full-back. Southampton. CEDRIC SOARES. 6. Looked a bit rusty returning from injury.  Was not a huge factor going forward on the right hand side.  Miss-hit a cross field pass that resulted in the fourth Leicester goal, which effectively ended the game.

Right centre-back. Southampton. MAYA YOSHIDA. 5. Scored a goal off a corner kick, but that is not what he is paid to do.  Was terrible defensively tonight, and could have prevented three of the four goals.  The first goal he failed to create pressure on Mahrez and allowed a free strike.  However, allowing Okazaki to beat him to the near post on the fourth goal was inexcusable.

VIRGIL VAN DIJK. 7. Was the only bright spot in the Southampton side tonight.  Strong defensively, covering well for Yoshida on multiple occasions.  Played at least three diaganol cross field balls to start attacks.  Although because everyone deserves criticism tonight… he could have blocked Vardy’s cross to Okazaki for the deciding goal.. Left centre-back. Southampton

6.5. Lone memorable moment was when he set Austin up for a sitter which could have made the game 2-3.  Was not his usual neat and tidy self otherwise on the wet pitch.. Left full-back. Southampton. RYAN BERTRAND
