Southampton drew 1-1 with Huddersfield Town on Saturday in a match that summed up their whole season to date.

After a characteristically slow start, Charlie Austin’s fifth goal in five starts gave the home side the lead on 24 minutes. However, they were unable to take any more chances to add to their lead, allowing Huddersfield to take a point after a Laurent Depoitre strike.

The game was seen as a must win for many Saints fans and the result only added to the already mounting pressure on manager Mauricio Pellegrino. They have now taken just six points from the last 27 on offer, and have only managed four wins from the first half of the Premier League season.

With away matches against Spurs and Manchester United to come in the next week, positive performances must be shown to provide fans with hope. Otherwise, we could be seeing the axe fall.
