Same old story

Home fans witnessed the same familiar pattern play out in front of them in this game. A slow start from Saints, a one goal lead, missed chances to put the game to bed and then the inevitable opposition equaliser.

Games against Arsenal and Brighton in particular have followed this theme as a lack of ruthlessness costs Saints valuable points in their efforts to scrabble away from the wrong end of the table.

More worrying is the fact that this hasn’t to have been improved throughout the season, and the brief seems to be to sit back on slim leads instead of attack to gain more comprehensive leads in matches
