How long can the board hold out?

After just one win in ten games, Southampton’s form goes from bad to worse and sees them just three points above the relegation zone.

It has been a bleak start to the campaign for Mauricio Pellegrino and his men, and the manager has to take a large portion of the blame. Indeed, Swansea City sacked manager Paul Clement last week after an identical run of a single win in their last 10 matches.

With no signs of progress towards an upturn in results, it remains to be seen if the Saints board feel a change in the St. Mary’s dugout is needed ahead of the second-half of the season.

If a new manager is to be appointed, it would ideally have to be done before the start of the January transfer window to ensure a full month to make specific signings.

Meanwhile, the clock is ticking on what will be a vital decision for the club.
